The shell has maintained strong luster and depth, and the brogueing and wing lines remain crisp. (Shoe trees shown in photos are for display and help illustrate shape retention.) If you’re looking for a true collector-grade Alden that’s still wearable as an everyday cornerstone—this is one of the best combinations: Ravello shell + longwing blucher. It’s the kind of pair that rarely shows up, and when it does, it doesn’t last. These are in very good used condition overall — clearly worn, but well cared for, with no major damage and plenty of life left. Uppers (shell cordovan): The Ravello shell has excellent depth and color with a healthy shine. There is expected vamp creasing / shell rippling from wear (normal for shell). No cracking visible, and no deep gouges — just light surface scuffs consistent with careful use. The toe areas show some darkening and minor rub marks, but nothing that looks structural or ugly in person. Welts & edges: The storm welt / welt stitching looks intact. Edge dressing shows typical wear, especially around the forefoot, but it still presents cleanly. Heels & soles: The heels show visible wear (especially at the back edges), but they are not worn down to the point of concern. Soles show normal wear; this pair looks like it has plenty of remaining service life before needing a resole. Structure: Heels sit straight, shape is retained well. No signs of collapsing counters or blown-out quarters. Overall: A very strong example of a used Ravello longwing — broken in, attractive patina, no red flags, and ready to wear immediately.
