Alden 9180C Color 8 Shell Cordovan George Boot

Here we have a pretty rare vintage boot from Alden, the 9180C in deep, rich Color 8 shell cordovan. This is the only pair listed on eBay or anywhere that I can find. They rarely come up for sale and as far as I can tell never have on the secondary market in this very popular size. These were built on the Aberdeen last which is “true to size but long” according to the exhaustive Styleforum post on the subject. 360 flat welt with a commando outsole that has “Alden” molded into it—I believe are the original outsoles. Heels are somewhat worn but there is still life left, especially if you were to install taps. Uppers are in very good condition with no major scuffs or gouges. All I did to prepare these for sale was to brush lightly with a horsehair brush to remove dust. Otherwise they are as-found. Nice rolls in the shell and not too much permanent bend in the soles. Note that I did not place shoe trees in these for the photos! Straps are in good condition. Linings are in good shape. Stitching is good. No smell—my home is smoke free. There is a ton of life left in these boots! If these are your size and you’re looking for a monk strap type boot, don’t sleep on this pair! It may be your only chance to own them.
