Barrie Last Vibram Lug Rubber Outsoles All Alden Shoes and Boots are crafted using a Goodyear Welt construction, and feature a tempered steel shank under the arch of the foot. The steel shank provides superior support and comfort throughout the day. Handcrafted in New England of the finest domestic and imported materials. No major issues. Some scuffs on the suede. Sole is a little worn, but still has lots of life left. Stitching is in great shape. Please see photos for condition. Extremely supple leather and very comfortable. Smoke free home. Shoe trees not included. Width: Alden's lasts are all "combination" lasts, where the heel is two widths narrower than the rest of the shoe. Alden denotes the width of the shoe as a fraction: the top of the fraction represents the width of the heel, while the bottom represents the width of the rest of the shoe. The bottom of the fraction is considered the width of the shoe and is the width upon which you should base your sizing.
