There are some marks etc to the suede that cannot be removed but nothing really obvious.

Alden 13791 chocolate suede chukka boot on the plantation crepe sole with leather glide tip. Recently restored by Alden at their factory in MA - sole, insole, laces, edging, etc is all brand new and beautiful. Suede outer is softened and gently worn. Regarding sizing - I can't recall which last these are on (Barrie or Leydon maybe?), but as they are an E width I believe I sized down one full size. To help - I am a true UK9 and these fit me very nicely. (Do correct me if I'm wrong!) As with all Alden shoes, it pays to do your research on sizing.
