For sale is a pair of RARE Vintage Alden X Hack Shoe Co 4004 Ripple Sole Pebble Grain Calf Leather Split Toe Derby Dress Shoes Men's 11.5 B/D. For your consideration is a rare pair of vintage Ripple Sole split toe derby shoes from the Famed American Shoemaker, Alden. This pair was made in/for collaboration with the storied Hack Shoe Company. These shoes, made by Alden for Hack Shoe Company, feature the famed Nathan Hack Ripple Sole. Having just been patented by Mr. Hack in 1955, the unique space-age style of this outsole, as well as its practical benefits, soon gained widespread popularity. What started out as a functional footwear tool to dampen landing impact for paratroopers soon became a favorite sole choice for athletes, veterans, policemen, mailmen, and businessmen. For reference, here are the approximate measurements (taken along the outsole): Length - just over 13” Width (at the ball of outsole) - about 4.25” These shoes have seen a fair amount of wear but have been maintained exceptionally well. They are well maintained throughout, and the uppers are in noticeably good condition - free of any deleterious cracks/splits. I cleaned and conditioned these shoes, inside and out, with Weimans Leather Wipes and Weimans Leather Conditioner, deep cleaned and conditioned with Lexol Cleaner and Conditioner, and polished them with Saphir Beaute du Cuir Shoe Cream.
