Reinforced Construction Beyond Goodyear Welt  In addition to the traditional Goodyear welt construction, Ray Kwok incorporates a full leather midsole, stitched together with the outsole in a triple-layer construction. By comparison, many boots from Red Wing or Chippewa feature a simpler construction where the welt is stitched directly to the outsole without a midsole layer(ex: Iron Ranger series). 2. Full Leather Stacked Heel All Ray Kwok boots utilize a fully stacked leather heel. In contrast, Red Wing boots(though not all) use plastic or composite heels, which can become brittle and crack over time. I’ve personally experienced this issue with my own RW 2268. 3. Reinforced Welt and Canvas Rib Integration Drawing from years of real-world wear, Ray Kwok identified a common issue: the canvas rib used to secure the welt can loosen or detach over time. To address this, an additional step is introduced—stitching the insole together with the canvas rib. This creates a visible stitch line on the insole, often mistaken for Blake stitching. In reality, it is an added reinforcement on top of traditional Goodyear construction. 4.
