Offered here is a pair of Alden for J.Crew 405 Indy boots — factory model 40510H, confirmed by the interior stamp and the dual Alden/J.Crew gold heel-pad marking shown in the photos — in men's size 10 B/D, from a single owner who wore them only occasionally over roughly two years. The result is a pair in notably strong condition for their age: the Horween Chromexcel uppers — full-grain, hot-stuffed leather from Chicago's Horween tannery, widely regarded as the finest American-tanned leather in production — have just begun developing the warm patina Chromexcel is prized for, with only light surface scuffs and gentle creasing. The signature white contrast stitching on the moc-toe apron remains clean and bright, and the structure of the boot is excellent throughout. The wear underneath tells the same story. The factory-original Neocork soles show only light-to-moderate wear with the welt and sole stitching fully intact, and the original Foot Balance "Thomas" heels — Alden's standard fitment on the 405, with an extended medial edge for arch support — are barely touched. These have never been resoled and are nowhere near needing it. Built on Alden's Trubalance last with Goodyear-welted construction, they're fully rebuildable regardless — Alden's own restoration service will recraft them indefinitely — but the next owner is buying a boot with the break-in done and nearly all of its life ahead of it. The Trubalance last runs roughly a half size large; a 10D typically fits a 10.5D street shoe.
