Color #8 Shell Cordovan Alden 405 Boots I purchased these Shell Cordovan 405s at the Alden Shop in San Francisco in 2017. They were a special make-up for that shop, featuring a Barrie Last (wider at the heel than the usual 405 Trubalance last). The Barrie last is what Alden traditionally uses on the classic shell cordovan blucher dress shoes. Unusually, these are also leather-soled, rather than usual 405 neoprene/cork or the more common option for the shell cordovan of having sewn on lug soles. These are, in my opinion, the nicest 405s ever made by Alden. They have been very well taken care of and come with their original box, all bags and an extra set of laces. I wore them at most 20-30 times and then they were put away during the pandemic. These have taken on a really beautiful patina. They are a size 7.5 D but wear more like an 8.5 in other shoes, as is common with Aldens. These measure 12 inches from heel-to-toe, I usually wear size 8 in Alden and these fit like a regular Alden 8, perhaps because of the Barrie Last. Made USA

Still on original sole, hardly wore through yet, and will not wear out for years to come. If you anything about shell and Alden, you know these boots will last you a lifetime.
