HOUSTON SHOE HOSPITAL — VERBAL IDENTIFICATION Because the interior of this pair bears an unusual Houston Shoe Hospital replacement liner, I contacted Houston Shoe Hospital directly and provided photographs of the shoes for identification. A representative of Houston Shoe Hospital verbally confirmed that these shoes were made by Alden, identified the leather as Color 8 Shell Cordovan, and confirmed that the number inside refers to the Alden model number: 772. They also confirmed that the Houston Shoe Hospital liner is a replacement liner made by their shop and explained that they used to manufacture their own replacement liners for shoes they serviced. HSH further commented that these shoes are quite old and that it has been at least approximately 30 years since they have seen a pair like these. This history explains the unusual Houston Shoe Hospital markings inside the shoes and adds an interesting piece of documented service history to an already collectible vintage Alden model. The shell cordovan uppers have extensive natural wear, creasing, scuffing, surface variation, and a deep vintage patina. The leather has the substantial appearance and character expected from an older pair of shell cordovan shoes that has actually been worn and maintained over many years. There is also natural wear around the rear opening/heel area where the foot enters the shoe, consistent with long-term use. The interior liner was previously replaced by Houston Shoe Hospital. The replacement liner currently has some slight lifting/release from the shoe around the heel and toward the middle of the footbed area. Vtg Brooks Brothers Brown Alden Calfskin Tasseled Loafers sz 8 to 8.5D Made in USA This is an amazing find of a vintage pair of Brooks Brothers classic tasseled loafers.  These shoes are bench made by Alden in a soft calfskin leather.  They are brown with a leather insole and sole.  The loafers have moccasin stitching along the vamp and precise channel stitching along the top rim.   At some point, someone has added a 1/2 slip proof sole protector and heel protectors to extend the life of these wonderful classic shoes.  They have a stacked heel and are highly sought after shoes.   The inside markings are largely worn away.  According to the measurements, they correspond to a size 8.5D.  The outsole length is 11.25" and the Toe Box is 3.75". These shoes have been freshly cleaned and polished.  Ready to wear! Good condition with some overall wear as seen in the pictures provided.  Please review them carefully.
