I really like Horween Chromexcel leather in Mahogany, a rare color in chromexcel. I was told that there are at least 89 separate processes taking 28 working days to make chromexcel leather. Over the years, as I buffed them, its original Mahogany color developed an extremely rich patina, with brighter, burnished tones of red, as seen in the pictures attached. It is the best feature I like about Chromexcel leather. Because there are much oils, greases, and waxes already saturated in the chromexcel leather during the manufacturing process, regular buffing will bring richer mahogany color out of chromexcel leather and makes it shinier as time goes on. It is called ”All-weather walker” or ”Walkabout” because of its plantation crepe sole, a combination of crepe rubber and leather tip, which is the most comfortable and versatile sole you can get for a shoe. It is quiet, well-insulated, durable and weather proof. You may send this pair to Alden factory for a resole - Alden will replace with a brand new crepe sole for a fee. The shoes can be resoled again and again—so they'll last a lifetime. Little maintenance is required. No shoe care products are needed. Clean with a damp cloth and brush them with a horsehair brush.
